Canberra's Top Places To See

by Cecelia Owens

Being the capital city of Australia, Canberra has a lot of wonderful spots to visit. There are plenty of things to do, and plenty of places, mostly national attractions, to visit in Canberra. The best museums and historic buildings are also located here.

One such building, and one of Canberra's must-see attractions, is the Federal Parliament House. A world-class architectural design, set in a stunning landscape, it houses a sizable, not to say impressive collection of Australian contemporary art. Canberra's iconic 81-meter flag flies proudly above the house.

Another attraction is the Canberra Zoo and Aquarium. It is the only combined zoo and aquarium. Kids will definitely love this place. Aside from being educational, kids and adults will have a very amazing experience that they will never forget. You will be allowed to hand-fed a tiger, lion and a bear. Meet a 5-meter tall giraffe and be wrapped with a python. The zoo has 34 endangered species and a large collection of big cats. Be knowledgeable with the land of animals.

If you are a keen sportsperson, then why not try Pitch-n-Putt? It offers an exciting 18-hole golf course that you can complete in under an hour and a half. Clubs and other golfing equipment are available for rent so you needn't bring your own. And what is more they have a poker machine!

Those people who love to read can freely access the National Library of Australia. It is Australia's biggest reference library. There are various reading rooms, a lot of books to choose from, even the rare book materials can be found here.

The Big Splash Waterpark in Macquarie is one of the most popular tourist spots to visit during the summer. Here you will find rides for kids and adults with 8 water slides and 5 swimming pools. Splash Island is specially built for children and has a playing area and 3 slides along with a Learn to Swim swimming pool for those who want to learn how to swim.

Canberra is indeed a very beautiful place. Explore more of Canberra and be amazed with the other attractions and tourist spots.
